Brunell Basketball Club
Brunell Ladies Basketball Club was founded in 1984. The club changed its name from Falcons to Brunell. Falcons Basketball Club was founded in 1973 and Andrew Drumm was one of the founder members of both clubs. The club is based in the Parochial Hall in Gurranabraher. The club consists of 120 members which makes it one of the largest Ladies Basketball Clubs in the county. Affiliated to Cork Ladies Basketball Board. Brunell Cater for U9 to Senior and also play at National League Level. The club has had great success over the years winning the intermediate all Ireland in 1985 and winning the All Ireland U14A Club Championship in 2008/09 Season. Due to the success of the club it was decided to enter a team at national league level in 1989/90 after winning division 2 league and championship. The club was promoted to Division 1 in the mid ninety’s. The club provides players for local schools, including St. Vincent’s and North Presentation Convents, which have participated at national level. Brunell travel to the USA every two years which started in 1988. The Club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009.
